Looking for Something Exciting to Do? Check Out Lagoon Alligator Feeding in New Orleans
Audubon's outdoor alligators in the Louisiana Swamp Exhibit go into a kind of hibernation in the winter. Their metabolism slows down dramatically in colder weather, so the public feeding schedule is suspended until temperatures warm up. This is very similar to what happens with the alligators in the wild. Meanwhile, the amazing white alligators (who live in climate-controlled comfort!) continue to be fed year-round, as do the baby gators in the Swamp Gift Shop. Sundays and Thursdays; schedule subject to change, check website for updates.
